Before working on a scooter’s electrical system where accidental shorting is a risk, a safe practice is to:

1. Place the positive cable on a bare fuel line
2. Disconnect the battery negative (or follow OEM isolation procedure) when appropriate
3. Use the frame as a welding ground while fuel vapour is present without precautions
4. Bypass all fuses with copper wire permanently
