Location Signs are black with yellow legend. What do they indicate?

Answer: D — Black sign with yellow legend indicating your location on the airfield

Sign colors on the airfield convey what information you’re getting. A black sign with yellow lettering is a location sign, which tells you exactly where you are on the airfield—usually the taxiway or position you’re currently on. This helps you orient yourself and confirm you’re following the correct taxi route. To contrast, direction signs use a yellow background with black lettering and point you toward the next taxiway or runway, guiding you where to go. Red signs with white lettering indicate mandatory instructions or restrictions, such as entry prohibitions or required actions. White signs with black lettering aren’t used to indicate directions in this system. So, seeing a black sign with a yellow legend indicates your location on the airfield.
