Before loading packaged dangerous goods, the load compartment should be:

1. Wet with detergent residue to 'neutralise' all classes
2. Clean, dry and free of residues that could react with or damage packages
3. Filled with loose sand as mandatory ADR bedding for every class
4. Left with previous spill residues if labels still match
