Within the tolerance zone of a marked utility, the safest H/H practice is to:

1. Use the largest excavator bucket available to finish faster
2. Expose the line by hand digging or other soft excavation before using powered equipment
3. Remove the marks so they are not confusing
4. Assume the line is at least 6 feet deep and trench through it
