What is the minimum age requirement to apply for a Class 4 Drivers License in Alberta?

Answer: B — 18 years old

To apply for a Class 4 Drivers License in Alberta, an individual must be at least 18 years old. This age requirement is in place because a Class 4 license allows for the driving of commercial vehicles, including taxis and some types of buses, which carry additional responsibilities and require mature decision-making skills. By setting the minimum age at 18, the licensing authority aims to ensure that drivers possess the necessary experience and maturity to handle these responsibilities safely. Additionally, applicants for a Class 4 license need to have held a Class 5 license for at least one year, which further reinforces the importance of being of legal age and having sufficient driving experience before operating larger or more complex vehicles.
