How long must you hold a Class 7 learner's permit before taking the Class 5 road test?

Answer: C — 12 months

To take the Class 5 road test in Alberta, a Class 7 learner's permit must be held for a minimum duration of 12 months. This requirement is in place to ensure that new drivers have sufficient time to gain experience and develop their driving skills under supervision. The extended period allows learners to practice various driving conditions, refine their abilities, and become more confident behind the wheel before attempting the independent driving test. Additionally, holding the learner's permit for at least 12 months promotes safer driving habits and enhances road safety overall, as new drivers will have been exposed to diverse driving situations, making them better prepared to handle the responsibilities of driving independently.
