What is the safe procedure when overtaking a slower vehicle on a multi-lane dual carriageway?

1. Move onto the right-hand shoulder with hazard lights on and pass the slower vehicle there
2. Close right up behind the vehicle and flash the high beams until the driver moves aside
3. Check mirrors and blind spot, signal left, pass on the left, and pull back in only once the overtaken car is fully visible in your interior mirror
4. Pass on the left, then move back across immediately so you regain the right lane without delay
