Before changing direction or changing lane, what must the driver do?

1. Brake sharply so following drivers notice the change
2. Switch on hazard warning lights for every lane change
3. Sound the horn, then move immediately
4. Give a timely direction signal, check mirrors and blind spots, and only then move if the way is clear
